Anguilla

Advanced Standing
  • CXC Caribbean Advanced Placement Examination (CAPE)
    The CAPE is equivalent to the Advanced level (A-level). CAPE replaced A-levels in 1998.
  • CAPE is designed to provide certification for students in the Caribbean who, having completed a minimum of five years of secondary education, wish to further their studies. The subjects are organized in 1-Unit or 2-Unit courses, with each Unit containing three modules.
  • The Caribbean Examinations Council offers three types of certification:
    • The first is the award of a certificate showing each CAPE Unit completed.
    • The second is the CAPE diploma, awarded to candidates who have satisfactorily completed at least six Units.
    • The third is the CAPE Associate Degree, awarded for the satisfactory completion of a prescribed cluster of ten CAPE Units.
      For further reading:
  • Transfer credit may be granted for 2-unit courses, and a minimum grade of III is required for transfer credit consideration.

*The government introduced the Bahamas High School Diploma criteria in 2014. According to the Ministry of Education, the minimum criteria to earn the BHSD is for students to attain four subjects in the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) Examinations, complete 27 credit hours in grades 10—12, maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 over the three years, complete 30 hours of unpaid Community Service, complete 20 hours of job readiness training, and maintain 90 percent or higher attendance and punctuality.

  • Quebec: Québec: Students from Quebec must meet one of the following admission requirements

    1. Completion of high school secondary V (Diplôme d’Études Secondaires (DES))

    • English with a minimum grade of 80%
    • Four (4) additional secondary V courses, three (3) of which must be academic courses
    • An overall average of 80%, with no grade below 75%

    Or     
    2. Collège d’Enseignement Général et Professionnel (CEGEP)

    • Completion of one (1) year of CEGEP
    • English with a minimum grade of 60%
    • Four (4) additional CEGEP courses, three (3) of which must be academic courses

Secondary School/ High School Grading Scale
  • In Canada, the provinces and territories are individually responsible for primary, secondary and higher education. Every province has a Ministry/Department of Education for educational policy, funding and quality assurance. As a result, different provinces and territories employ different grading scales at the secondary level. Please refer to the grading scale on the transcript or check with the International Credential Office. 
During the application process, applicants must upload the following documents into their online application
  • Copies of high school transcripts containing a record of all courses taken and individual grades received (excluding Québec)
  • Copies of the Diplôme d’Études Secondaires (DES) and Diplôme d’Études Collégiales (DEC) containing a record of all courses taken and individual grades received (Québec)
  • Copies of diplomas if graduation date is not listed on the transcript
  • Copies of Authorized word-for-word English translation if documents are in French

Please note: Applicants who are in their final year of high school (or can be considered for admission based on their partial grade reports/transcripts.

  • Official Diplome d'Etudes Secondaires or Collegiales (Quebec)

Advanced Standing (Québec): 
  • The Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC), offered at Collèges d'enseignement général et professionnel (CEGEPs) (Colleges of General and Vocational Education), is required for 3-year university degrees in Quebec. These programs represent a total of 13 years of education, encompassing completion of the secondary education cycle as well as postsecondary study.
  • Up to 32 credits may be articulated as university credit (similar to A-Levels in the UK).

Guatemala

Note: At the secondary level, students receive three years of general education, called Ciclo Prevocacional, followed by two years of vocational training, called Ciclo Diversificado, which allows students to "specialize" in one of several professional areas such as education, agriculture, and business. Students who complete the final three years of study receive a Bachillerato, the equivalent of a high school diploma, and are eligible to be admitted to university. Instead of attending Ciclo Diversifcado, students may opt to devote their following three years of study to specialized studies, resulting in a certificates in perito (certification) in industria (industry), agricola (agriculture), or contador (law).
