  • Grades 1–3 at Level 1 (Foundation: equivalent to GCSE grades D–G)
  • Grades 4–5 at Level 2 (Intermediate: GCSE grades A*–C) and
  • Grades 6–8 at Level 3 (Advanced: A-Level)
• Grade 8 piano/music/music theory is classed as a Level 3 qualification in the UK. Level 3 qualifications include A-levels, amongst other qualifications.
• This means that Grade 8 is the equivalent of an A-level in that it falls in the same classification bracket as A-Levels.
• It therefore counts as an A-level so would receive 8 credits advanced standing at AU.
