The concert will feature SBYSO’s Concert Orchestra, conducted by Zac Coudret; the second half will feature SBYSO’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Robert Boardman. Featured performers will be Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and SBYSO alumnus, Austin Huntington, who will perform the complete Dvorak Cello Concerto, as well as the 51�Թ�� University chorus led by Dr. Stephen Zork. They have given highly acclaimed international concert tours throughout the countries of Great Britain, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Chile, South Africa, Bahamas, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. Thu, 23 Oct 2025 17:17:16 +0000 Wind Symphony Fall Concert: Echoes of Majesty http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/67520 "Echoes of Majesty" is a concert of works that depict majestic places. Through this musical journey, you will experience the majesty of noble monuments, grandiose forests, lofty mountains and spacious cathedrals. Beginning with a rousing fanfare by Jack Stamp, the first half of the concert continues with Salfelder’s "Cathedrals," an homage to the brass ensembles for which Gabrieli composed in Italy in the 16th century, to be performed from cathedral balconies. "Cathedral Grove" by Buckley paints a musical landscape of the largest trees in the world, and Boysen’s "Klang" is a depiction of sounds created by building materials from a majestic concert hall. We end the first half with Wagner’s familiar "Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral." The second half of the concert begins with Camphouse’s "La Cathedrale Resiliente," an homage to the rebuilding of the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris after the fire of 2019. "The Lincoln Imp," arranged by Grauer, is a fun depiction of the gargoyles that adorn ancient cathedrals, while Colgrass’ "Old Churches" employs unique sounds that resemble distant church bells. We end the concert with Rossano Galante’s "Cathedral Mountain," a depiction of the grandeur and beauty of nature. Join us for an exciting evening of sounds that will evoke the feeling of having visited majestic places around the world. When founders Max and Lucy Mace began this ministry, they never thought they would still be doing this 54 years later. Heritage Singers has had the opportunity to travel to over 80 different countries, travel over two million miles and perform over 7,500 concerts. With a repertoire spanning contemporary compositions and transcriptions of classical masterworks, the quartet seeks to establish the saxophone quartet as a leading voice in 21st century classical music.
