Position summary



The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications (EDMC) is a visionary leader responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and branding strategy to enhance the reputation, enrollment, and mission impact of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø University. The EDMC oversees all marketing initiatives, aligning them with the university's Seventh-day Adventist mission and values while engaging diverse audiences, including prospective students, constituents, alumni, and the global community.  The EDMC reports to the Vice-President for Strategic Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications and leads the Marketing and Communication teams on campus. 




Qualifications summary



A minimum of a master’s degree and five years of related experience and/or training. 




Expertise in strategic leadership, brand management, digital marketing, enrollment, and recruiting.  




Demonstration of critical thinking, emotional intelligence, spirit of initiative, excellent customer service skills, and ability to respond to complex situations 




Enthusiasm for the mission of the Adventist Church and passion for Adventist Christian education.  




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities




Strategic Leadership 






  1. Develop and execute a university-wide marketing and branding strategy that supports enrollment growth, institutional advancement, and mission alignment. 








  1. Lead the development of campaigns to position 51³Ô¹ÏÍø University as a premier Christian university globally and within the Seventh-day Adventist community. 








  1. Conduct market research to understand trends, identify target audiences, and evaluate campaign effectiveness. 








  1. Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to align marketing efforts with institutional goals and priorities. 






Brand Management 






  1. Ensure the consistent and effective use of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø University brand across all platforms and materials. 








  1. Strengthen the university's reputation through storytelling, highlighting academic excellence, faith-based initiatives, student success, and alumni achievements. 








  1. Oversee the creation of compelling visual and written content for print, digital, and social media platforms. 








  1. Protect the university brand by ensuring that branding standards are followed by both internal and external parties. 






Enrollment and Recruitment Marketing 






  1. Develop marketing strategies to increase student applications, enrollment, and retention for both the main campus and the Global Campus. 








  1. Partner with the Enrollment Management team to create targeted campaigns for undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. 








  1. Utilize data analytics to optimize recruitment efforts and ensure a strong return on investment for marketing activities. 






Digital and Content Strategy 








  1. Oversee the university's online presence, including website design, social media channels, and digital advertising campaigns. 








  1. Implement innovative technologies, such as AI and analytics tools, to enhance marketing effectiveness and audience engagement. 








  1. Develop content strategies that resonate with diverse audiences across various cultural and geographic contexts. 






Team Leadership and Development 






  1. Lead and mentor the marketing and communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence. 








  1. Manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet strategic goals. 








  1. Collaborate with university leaders to ensure alignment between marketing efforts and broader institutional objectives. 






Professional growth 




Maintains professional growth through engagement in professional organizations and conferences. 





Supervisory responsibilities


The EDMC reports to the Vice-President for Strategic Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications and leads the Marketing and Communication teams on campus.

Physical demands


Requires the ability to work in a typical office environment with extended periods of computer use.
