Position summary
You will be working on the following:
- BEAR Summer Lab – robotics and coding education for middle school students using VEX IQ
- ARiS (Advanced Robotics Instructional Systems) – hardware + software prototyping for STEM kits
- IT Support for the School of Business Administration– assisting with technology infrastructure, troubleshooting, and website updates
- ThinkerBox Project – building digital/physical learning modules for K–12 education
Qualifications summary
- Enrolled in or recently completed studies in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering
- Strong technical problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with robotics, microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32), or LMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Tutor LMS) is a plus
- Self-driven, curious, and eager to learn and build
- Great with students, comfortable in both lab and digital environments
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and running robotics and STEM programs
- Help manage technical content for ThinkerBox.org (WordPress, LMS setup, etc.)
- Provide IT support for labs, devices, and software
- Contribute to hardware testing, Arduino/ESP32 projects, or Unity/web-based educational tools
- Work independently and as part of a creative, interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

Interpersonal interactions
- Strong social skills required for assisting visitors with questions or directing them to the appropriate faculty or staff member
- Regular interaction with faculty and staff in a support role
- Interact with students and help them with questions or concerns and occasionally motivate them to come to an SBA event or field trip
Physical demands
- Sitting at a desk/computer for the period of time you are working
- Moving of furniture, equipment and/or boxes
- Must be able to lift upwards of 40 pounds on an occasional basis
Work environment
Typical office environment with limited noise or equipment hazards.
NOTE: No personal business will be allowed during work hours (scheduling personal appts, school work, etc.)
